The story of The
Cannery covers over 80 years of American History. It began in
1921 when the first commercial fish cannery was built
here.
The Cannery continued as a working enterprise
until August 1, 1966. On that day, the Cannery was closed
but, not forever.
Its seaside location and natural
charm, appealed to a local businessman who turned the 45 year
old building into a restaurant. This incarnation remained
until 1998 when the restaurant was closed and slated to be
torn down.
After considerable efforts by another local
businessman, The Cannery was reopened after an almost 4 year
period by noted restaurateur Ron Salisbury. Ron's family has a
long restaurant history spanning 79 years as the owners &
